TB Pulse – Trust and Politics

2025 strategic priorities?

We recently asked our panel of corporate affairs directors and chief communications officers to share three strategic priorities for them and their teams in 2025.  Themes that topped the list:

  • to build or change their organisation’s reputation;
  • to drive engagement among their employees, and;
  • to help their organisation to transform.

This tallies with the latest Edelman Trust Barometer, published earlier this month, which reported that 61% of respondents have a moderate or high sense of grievance towards business and government, reinforcing how important building trust in organisations remains for the year ahead.

Labour, good for business?

We also asked our panel to reflect on the performance of Sir Keir Starmer’s government after its first six months in office, and its impact on their business.  The overview was quite flat in outlook: 41% were neutral, 36% disappointed, and 23% very disappointed.  For balance, and optimism, PwC’s 2025 Global CEO Survey ranked the UK as the second best investment target.  One of our panel members summarised:

“Labour have undoubtedly weakened business confidence with the Budget, but we welcome their commitment to growth. It’s too early in the Trump Presidency to assess how it will impact the global economy.”
